Notes In Route

Using some of our American Airlines frequent flyer miles, we had a most pleasant fight in Business class on Quantas to Perth, Western Australia.  This state is larger than all European countries and we hope to get a feel for it in five weeks.
Once again we've hired a small camper van and immediately headed to Fremantle on the coast.  How strange to experience cool weather.  It's about 32 degrees south latitude and our first time out of the tropics in a year.
The a Perth area is spotlessly clean, modern with excellent roads and even sidewalls and many people speak English.  Fremantle is a delight for walking and very attractive. We enjoyed the Maritime Museum today and a had a nice meal of fish and chips at the Harbour.
From here we shall drive south toward Margaret river where Susan will do some extensive wine tasting.
